09 May Diagnosing PTSD and Other Trauma Or Stressor Related Disorders
Trauma and Stressor-Related Disorders are a new category of psychological disorders identified in the DSM-5. While most of the disorders in this category were not new to the DSM, changes in symptoms and criteria, and a misunderstanding of some of these disorders, have led to frequent misdiagnosing.
This online course focuses on common diagnosis pitfalls and challenges, and helps clinicians accurately diagnose these disorders for clinical or forensic purposes.
This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:
a). Name all of the diagnoses in the DSM-5 disorder category, Trauma and Stressor-Related Disorders.
b). State one difference between Reactive Attachment Disorder and Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder.
c). Identify challenges and limitations of the DSM-5 PTSD diagnosis.
d). Discuss the possible clinical and forensic implications of misdiagnosing traumatized individuals.
