16 Mar Tools to Integrate EMDR, IFS and Other Approaches to Trauma: Introduction to Neural Desensitization and Integration Training
This online training course is designed specifically for mental health professionals who are interested in learning about evidence-informed approaches to trauma. The course will explore the challenges that therapists face when working with clients who have experienced trauma and the limitations of traditional approaches to therapy for PTSD.
The course will introduce participants to Neural Desensitization and Integration Training (NDIT), a module-based, exposure, trauma-focused approach to therapy for PTSD that integrates elements from EMDR, multichannel eye movement integration, prolonged exposure, IFS, and other therapies. NDIT has been specifically designed to help clients titrate into processing traumatic material, thereby minimizing the risk of flooding and retraumatization.
Unlike other therapies, NDIT focuses not only on what happens during the session but also on what clients do outside of the session. Participants will learn about homework exercises that can be used to facilitate progress and help clients maintain their focus on their treatment goals.
During the training, participants will be introduced to the basic skills of NDIT, which can be immediately incorporated into their practice.
This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:
a). State at least three components of neural networks.
b). Describe why bilateral movement can facilitate desensitization to distressing thoughts or memories.
c). Identify two ways to alter visual or auditory memory components that decreases their intensity during imaginal exposure.
d). Name three therapeutic approaches that NDIT utilizes.
e). State the three steps of memory reconsolidation.
f). List the main modules of NDIT.
