15 Sep When Trauma is Current: Treating Clients with Ongoing Traumatic Stressors
Helping clients recover from a traumatic past can be difficult, but what if the trauma is ongoing?
For many clients, trauma isn’t just a past event, or series of events, it is a part of their everyday life. Current events, family conflicts, bullying, divorces, systemic inequalities, pandemic-related illness, various losses and other toxic stressors are common weekly, or even daily, occurrences. While many trauma treatment approaches can work well for past trauma, treating current trauma is an entirely different challenge.
This seminar focuses on how to treat clients experiencing ongoing trauma, clarifying which techniques show the most promise for addressing current trauma, and ways to support clients as they navigate long-term traumatic situations.
This training will provide participants clinical knowledge and tools to:
a). Name at least two considerations of treating current, ongoing trauma.
b). Describe at least three techniques that can be incorporated into trauma treatment that can help clients better inoculate themselves against the effects of ongoing trauma.
c). State two types of trauma therapy that can be modified to treat current trauma.
